This is a client piece. They had me do their dining room table and chairs a year ago and brought me this table to paint like the others.
It was painted my go to color Crisp Linen from Sherwin Williams except I have it color matched at Home Depot, in the Behr Premium Ultra with primer in it.
I distressed the finish with the mouse sander and put a colored wax on it, being careful to not get to heavy handed with the wax they wanted it just slightly aged.
They of course were in a hurry for it! Party on the weekend and all. Glad I could finish it for them on time. I must say I am starting to like the brass on the white again. What do the rest of you think?

That came out beautifully! I love how much nicer the cherry furniture looks with a coat of white paint. I use the color matching system at Lowes and love their Valspar Signature paint line which has the built in primer and covers in one coat!

That looks great, but I would prefer dark handles against the white.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, turned out so great. I am doing an antique vanity right now and wondered how you applied the antique glaze so it didn't go on too dark? I'd love to get some tips. Thanks
ReplyDeletei love that piece! the size and legs are adorable! and i love that color on it- i haven't used that one yet!

What a great table! You did a good job!
ReplyDeleteI love this. When you paint, do you sand and prime first? I know with ASCP you don't have to do this step. I am curious about the Primer plus paint. I have enjoyed reading your posts. Thank you for sharing inspiring ideas.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, I do very little sanding. I use Krud Kutter to clean the piece, then a Deglosser from home depot. I love the Behr paint with primer in satin enamel. I don't like seeing a primer color under another color when I distress. The enamel paint takes a long time to cure (like a month) but after that it is pretty sturdy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your quick response. I have heard of a Deglosser, but I haven't used one yet. I had no idea you would use enamel paint. So many bloggers/painters use latex. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. You are very kind! I enjoy your posts!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, The satin enamel I referred to is a Latex so sorry for that miscommunication.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I did go buy some and they explained it to me. I really appreciate your kindness in helping me. I hope I can get to your shop one day soon. I am south of Atlanta. You do amazing work!
