Sweet Little Dresser and Chest of Drawers
These were done for a little girl. The originals were her daddys when he was in college. The family was about to give them away when the mom thought I might be able to help save them and get a few more years of use out of them… Well I was more than happy to help.
Here they are before
They decided the hardware was not girly enough so the mom scored big time at Anthropology and got 28 knobs at 2.00 apiece. Love it when great saving like that happen.
I filled all the holes from the original hardware by filling them first with wood putty then when that is dry I sand over the spot and fill again with Dap the wall putty that starts out pink and turns white when dry. It doesn't crack or shrink when dry and leaves a very smooth finish. Then I re-drilled new holes for the new knobs.
The cabinets were painted a true white because she had purchased furniture that she wanted them to go with. There was light distressing on the pieces to go along with some other things in the little girls room.
Have a great week everyone!

Rice Bedroom Set
Hey everyone hope you are able to stay cool in this very HOT summer.
Here is my project for the week. Its a Rice Bed.....
These beds are really amazing and were very popular awhile back. Unfortunately they are not as popular now as they once were. I have painted at least 3. They take a lot of time to paint and distress. But they sure are pretty when they are done.
This one was done for a client. She had the bed, then two night tables. You can see one in the above picture and here is the other one. In its before state.
Painted my favorite off white. Crisp Linen from Sherwin Williams mixed at Home Depot in there Behr Premium Plus Paint.
They were then distressed by hand because using a sander on the delicate design would ruin it.
I then used just the clear wax on everything, except the tops of the nightstands those I used a Poly Acrylic on.
Another close up of the detail.
Have a great week everyone!
